MINISTER for Women Mereseini Vuniwaqa says the nation will not be able to fully harness its development potential if half of the population are left behind.
In addressing guests at the Fiji Development Bank 50th birthday celebration this week in Labasa, Mrs Vuniwaqa said leaving behind half of the population would result in the lack of means to help build the nation.
“The Northern Division has been enjoying Government subsidy administered by FDB and we continue to experience growth in all sectors, in particular the agricultural sector,” she said.
“New farmers now have access to finance needed to buy farms through the scheme.
“The Fijian Government will continue to provide you with incentives and opportunities to grow but the onus are on you to make that first move.”
Mrs Vuniwaqa challenged financial institutions to also prioritise and treat with importance the applications lodged by women.
