Once again, the Fiji Development Bank (FDB) has launched its National Small & Medium Enterprise Awards (NSMEA) 2024 held at their Suva Head Office. In line with the SME Development, FDB annually hosts the National Small and Medium Enterprises Awards (NSMEA). FDB’s NSME Awards is a major platform in the country that recognizes and celebrates the achievements of SMEs.
At the launch, the keynote address was delivered by the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister for Trade, Co-operatives, Small and Medium Enterprises and Communications – Hon. Manoa Kamikamica.
The Hon. Minister said that the Fiji Government is a strong supporter of the SMEs because when our micro, small and medium enterprises thrive, our communities prosper, and our nation grows stronger together. This has been reflected in the Fiji Government’s support initiatives for the Bank and the Micro, Small, Medium, Enterprises. Just as it takes a village to raise a child, it takes the collective effort of Government, private sector and individuals working together to build a thriving future for our MSMEs.
The FDB Board Chair, Mr. Damend Gounder, stated that “the National SME Awards highlight the impact that businesses, both emerging and established, have on our economy. They encourage others to build stronger and they contribute to the development of our nation. Each year, we see a surge in loan applications following our launch events and our award ceremonies. That is a clear sign that the awards platform inspires entrepreneurial spirit. Progressive growth creates a stronger economy, and one that is diverse ‘and’ resilient.”
The FDB 2024 National SME Awards will be in three categories: Developing SMEs, Impact Awareness SMEs and Empowerment Awards with a total of nine awards. An SME that is 100% owned by Fiji Citizen(s) can apply and it’s open to all customers and non-customers of FDB.
The 2024 NSME Awards Online application was open last Friday (04.04.25) and Deadline for submission of entry is 4pm, 2nd of May 2025.
