The Fiji Development Bank rallied behind the Flying Fijian Rugby World Cup campaign this week, with a $3,000 donation.
At a small presentation in Suva, FDB acting Chief Executive Officer Mr Saiyad Hussain handed over the cheque to Fiji Rugby Union CEO Mr. Radrodro Tabualevu.
“We are proud to make this small donation towards the mammoth task that our boys are taking on during the 2015 Rugby World Cup. We want to show them our support with this gesture so that they can play to the best of their abilities,” Mr Hussain said.
“I convey the well wishes of the FDB Board, Management and staff and we wish the boys every success during this campaign.”
Mr Tabualevu thanked the bank for the donation and highlighted that the FRU is appreciative as this will be of great assistance.
“Preparing and sending a team to a tournament such as the world cup is a costly exercise therefore donations like these are very welcomed. Playing against bigger nations with larger monetary resources is a daunting task but your donation and that of others ensures that we can give our team the best we can,” Mr. Tabualevu said.
“We are benchmarking ourselves against the world’s best practices in terms of preparing and that is showing positive signs. We thank the bank for your support and for getting behind your rugby team.”
