The Fiji Development Bank wishes to announce the appointment of Mr. Uraia Rasake as its general manager human resources and training (GMHR&T).
Mr. Rasake was previously the regional human resources director for Warwick International Hotels for two years. His prior appointments include director human resources and human resources manager for Sheraton and Westin Resort and SPA.
Prior to joining the private sector in 2003, Mr. Rasake spent 15 years with the public service holding various appointments with the ministry oflabour.
The position of GM for human resources was merged with the finance division following a restructure of the bank in 2008. Its reinstatement follows a recommendation by consultant Gary Turnstall following his strategic review of the bank in 2010.
“We welcome Uraia to FDB and look forward to a renewed focus in growing our organisational capacity through our people. His 22 years of experience in human resource development and management as well as his exposure to a service oriented sector such as tourism bodes well for the bank in terms of where we would like to take our business in the future,” says FDB’s chief executive officer, Deve Toganivalu.
In joining the bank, Mr. Rasake said he was looking forward to the challenge of working in a renowned financial institution such as FDB.
“I’m honoured to be given this opportunity and it is my focus that by taking care of and building the capacity of our internal customers who are our employees, they will in turn bring that renewed enthusiasm and vigour to our external customers who are as important to our business,” he said.
Mr. Rasake’s appointment is with effect from 10 February, 2014.
